ELC is a partner for the food industry and the regulators

The use of food additives is regulated at a European level, although national law remains important.

ELC is a key partner in establishing how EU legislation should work in practice, as well as providing technical expertise to the European Commission, Council and Parliament, and other bodies such as the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

It works alongside the Confederation of the Food and Drink Industries of the EU (CIAA) on matters of mutual interest, and maintains links with food additive industry associations outside the EU. It has observer status in the CODEX Alimentarius.
