ELC – the voice of specialty food ingredients producers in Europe

ELC was known for many years as the ‘Federation of Food Additives, Food Enzymes and Food Cultures’. As there is much more to the world of food ingredients, ELC became in 2010 the ‘Federation of European Specialty Ingredients’ embracing a wider scope of activity.

ELC today is the united voice for the specialty food ingredients industry on scientific, technical, and regulatory issues related to food products in Europe. It is our aim to ensure that all stakeholders – from consumers and regulatory authorities to manufacturers and retailers – are correctly informed about the use, safety and benefits of specialty food ingredients.

ELC aims at influencing European policy

  • ELC has gained a positive reputation across Europe with key decision-makers increasingly turning to the network for technical, regulatory and science-based information on specialty food ingredients.
  • ELC supports EU policy to improve the overall quality of European food to help consumers choose the healthiest diet.
  • ELC members show this commitment not only via a broad range of nutritional and technical specialty ingredients but also through promoting science and innovation.
  • This progressive approach over the last 25 years has enabled ELC to build privileged relationships with the leading authorities in Europe including the European Commission, European Parliament, EFSA and European Council.
